Tired of constantly trying to prove yourself?

20170820_041.JPG
  • Waiting for that moment when you'll know you’ve finally “made it”?

  • Waiting to know all your hard work and sacrifices were worth it?

  • Waiting to finally feel happy and no longer need to prove yourself to anyone?

  • Waiting to finally take a break and enjoy life?

I can help you switch the 'waiting game' for real life results.

Because it IS possible to have your heart's desires much sooner than you think.

Hi there- I'm Jill!

20170820_035.JPG

I'm a coach on a mission to help career-driven, high achievers infuse passion into their lives so they feel happy, fulfilled, and successful.

I work with women in corporate careers who feel burnt-out, drained, and undervalued.  I invite them to connect to their values and life purpose and give them tools to integrate those into their daily lives.    As a result, they move forward with confidence, have a bigger impact in the world, and are happier- without sacrificing their careers.

How do I know I can help you?

Because I'm a corporate professional too and used to struggle with these same things.    I believed that success was achieved only through hard work and sacrifice- so I became a master at both.  After nearly a decade though I came to a major conclusion:

Success didn't feel as good as I thought it would.

My Old Way of Thinking:   Success = Hard Work + Sacrifice

20170820_011.JPG

I had an amazing career with a bright future.  My friends and family described me as successful and brave.   I was independent and from the outside looking in, one would think I had it all together.   But I felt far from it.    I felt lonely and disconnected.   Life had lost it's "spark".   And to make it worse, I believed that successful people didn't need help.  They should be able to handle everything on their own.

I was wrong. I needed help.

I began working with a Life and Career Coach.  That one decision to ask for help set me on a path of self-discovery that has been life altering in the most beautiful and positive of ways.    Through coaching I've been able to reconnect to my purpose and my values- the work that I really want to do in the world.    By doing so I've redefined success and now live on my own terms now.

My New Way of Thinking:   Success = Growth + Purpose + Happiness

Want to think this way too?

A little background first...

I was born and raised in the great state of Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State University where I earned a BS in Chemical Engineering.   After University I was on a mission to do life differently.     I said "yes" to a career that I knew very little about and moved to Alaska for an adventure- because I just knew it was the right choice.   Since then, I've been saying “yes” to opportunities that have pushed me out of my comfort zone year after year.  As a result I’ve experienced massive career growth, personal growth, and have traveled to places I only dreamt about as a child.  I’m often told I’m brave and have done things that no one imagined.    But to describe myself in that way, or as a success, feels wrong.

One of my favorite memories

You see, I’m still just an Oklahoma girl at heart.  I love my family dearly, cry every time I hear the National Anthem or Taps, and would rather receive a hand made card in the mail over a text.    I love getting lost in an antique store.       I’ll choose an evening on the porch chatting with family and friends over a concert any night.   Biscuits 'n' gravy?  Yes.  (Always, yes.)   I prefer church pews to auditorium seats.  I love being outdoors- hunting, fishing, or camping.   And a house without at least one ticking clock feels empty to me.

At times, this part of my heart has been hard to balance in the corporate world.    And for a long time, I thought I had to choose.   I thought I could either be a successful and driven leader at work OR I could be successful, happy, and content in my personal life.  I didn’t think having both was possible.

But I desperately wanted both.  And I couldn't envision my life being completely fulfilled without both.   If I gave up one for the other I would always wonder "What if?".... And there is nothing worse in life than wondering "What could have been?"

So when I hit what I would call my "rock bottom" in 2015 I decided to take action.  I was miserable, unhappy, and had exhausted everything I knew to try to make life better.  I knew something had to change but I didn't know what to change or how to do it.  The struggle was real.

Asking for Help

96% of people who don't get help will still be in the same situation in 1 year

As fate would have it, I found myself at a conference where the keynote speaker was a life and career coach.  The coach said "96% of people who don’t get help will still be in the same situation in one year".   I vowed right then to NOT be one of those people.  I emailed the speaker the next day and began working with her 2 weeks later.

Since then, I have worked 1-on-1 with 6 different coaches, attended 5 in-person development events, participated in 3 group coaching programs, and purchased an embarrassing amount of personal development books.

I went "all-in" on taking control of my life and owning it.  The transformation I've experienced is astounding.

What I Learned

I love "working".  I work to support myself, to achieve my next goal, to be a good family member/friend/colleague, to give back to society, to grow as an individual.  I even work at relaxing.  And I'm really good at working.  For the most part, this is a good thing.  One must work (i.e. take action) in life.

I want more of this

I had a problem though.   I used to only have one mode of working-  the hard way.

I lived by this formula:

HARD WORK + SACRIFICE= SUCCESS

If something was easy then I wasn't doing it right.   I chose to work over holidays, didn't unplug on vacations, and declined invitations from friends to social events.  (Who has time to have fun when there's work to be done?!).   I, of course, justified all these actions as necessary because fun and relaxation weren't part of my success equation.

I operated this way for a very long time and it served me well.  Until it didn't.

Living with Intention

The biggest revelation I had with the help of coaching was how little I really knew about myself.  Living by deadlines and to-do lists, I had forgotten why I was doing all of these things in the first place.

Old Ways won't open New Doors

  • Why did I want to be a leader at work?

  • Why did I think I needed to workout 6 days a week?

  • Why did I travel to new places?

  • Why did I visit family so often?

  • Why did I always need to lose more weight?

Why?

I had forgotten the answers to all of these questions and more.  Not only had I been operating the "hard way", I had been on "auto-pilot" too.  This combination had been my one-way ticket to a life that left me drained, disconnected, and unfulfilled.

The only way to change, is to change

In order to get out of "autopilot" mode I had to take action.    I had to make space in my life for me to be me and I needed to reconnect to my values.  Here are some changes I've noticed (and others have too) since I began this journey:

Lead Differently.

Live Differently.

  • I'm more flexible and "go with the flow"
  • I say "no" to things that I actually don't want to do
  • I don't apologize for needing time to myself to recharge
  • I ask for help
  • I look at each obstacle as a lesson
  • I don't let others define my worth

I achieved all of these things without quitting my job, changing career paths, or making any other drastic life moves.  The radical changes happened internally while my external world remained intact. The way I engaged with it and approached it improved significantly though.

Coaching taught me how to identify when my inner critic (i.e. inner mean girl or inner gremlin) is in the driver's seat.

I'm far from perfect and still battle my old patterns of busy-ness, guilt, self-doubt, self-comparison, and perfectionism (to name a few).   But I'm more self-aware now and can recognize when I'm in an old cycle.  I catch myself quicker and use the techniques and tools I've learned to face any issue head on.   No more procrastinating or delaying.  But most of all, I give myself more grace and permission to be human.

Who I Work With

I work with women who are ready to take action.  Women who are ready to stop playing small and take control of their lives.   I'm the coach for you if you:

  • Aren't afraid to thoroughly examine your thoughts and habits

  • Thrive with step-by-step guidance and structured systems

  • Know you were made for more and are no longer willing to accept the status quo

Before working with me:

  • You are constantly comparing yourself to others and putting down your body, your career, your home, etc.

  • You think everything seems to come easy to everyone else. What are you doing wrong?

  • You feel obligated all the time. Obligated to help your family, friends, and colleagues- but when are they going to help you?

  • You go on vacation and cannot relax. You can’t unplug and you schedule each day to the max. You’ve been known to bring your work laptop and cell phone with you too so you can stay on top of what’s going on at the office.

  • You cringe when people “back home” shower you with compliments and praise you for how much you’ve achieved because in your mind, you don’t deserve it. What have you really done?

  • You’re life looks pretty darn good on paper but it sure doesn’t feel that way.

After working with me:

  • You know, without a shadow of a doubt, that you are right where you need to be. Your life is unfolding just as it should and that has nothing to do with anyone else.

  • You are keenly aware of the stories your inner critic has made up and choose to embrace a new story.

  • You no longer feel obligated to do anything. You’ll see every action you take as a choice and learn how to politely say no to any request.

  • You know the importance of “blank space”/downtime in your life. You can trust your intuition and know when unplugging is necessary for you to recharge.

  • You acknowledge all that you have achieved and graciously accept recognition from others because you will no longer play small.

  • You make your happiness a priority and put as much effort into the life you lead that isn’t on paper so it feels a helluva a lot better.

No more settling.  No more procrastinating.  No more waiting for life to happen.

Sounds pretty spectacular, right?!

Are you ready to fearlessly pursue what sets your soul on fire?

The world needs you to be the best version of you.  The best version of you can only be achieved when you acknowledge that your happiness matters, not just your professional success.

I would be honored to help you and be a part of your journey.
